MatriArt 2025: Celebrating Mothers, Makers & Creativity in Our Community

On May 10, The Co-Lab hosted MatriArt: A Mother’s Day Market + Art Show, a vibrant event that brought together nearly 500 visitors, 10 women-owned businesses, and 12 local artists for an afternoon of creativity, community, and connection.

The art show, which remains on view through the end of May, features original work by women artists — many of whom are also mothers and entrepreneurs. From mixed media and painting to photography and illustration, each piece reflects a personal lens on identity, beauty, and the act of making. The artists installed their work themselves, adding a thoughtful and personal touch to the gallery-style presentation.

Alongside the artwork, the space was filled with incredible small-batch goods and handmade products — including sustainable fashion, artisan treats, floral bouquets, stationery, and leather accessories — all created by women building creative businesses in our region.

MatriArt reflects The Co-Lab’s mission to support local entrepreneurs, elevate artistic voices, and help shape South Orange into a true destination for discovery, shopping, and creative exchange.

Thank you to everyone who participated, shopped, or stopped in. And a special thank-you to our artists and vendors — your work brought the space to life.

The MatriArt Art Show will be on view at The Co-Lab through May 31. Free and open to the public during store hours — come take a look!
